thom donovan interviews CA CONRAD at poets.org
My religion is Poetry, not a religion of kindness and love but one of absolute permission. If poetry doesn't strip me naked in front of me enemies then nothing will.
bam!

Sunday rainy Tucson
I'm putting off grading. That means I'm doing odd stuff. Like manipulating photos. One of these will be my author photo b/c whyyyy not. You know how a lot of popular male poets have those 'super-cool' posed photos--they're black & white & look scruffy hipster but posed all cool as well? Those make me laugh a bit. I like the first one, the androgynous rain one where it looks like I have a bowl haircut. Hottt. This rain in the desert is making me happy & sleepy. I'd rather not be grading but movie watching. I'm gonna eat some cheese grits & chkn sausage.

I heart Jane Miller.

from James Welch's Riding the Earthboy 40
Home. The steamer edged you
from that scene of what is nice, the Paris days
of sun and mortgaged gold.
And now, here, in these mountains
that hold you from yourself, the wind
blowing down your final face,
you tell us what we know: Time is clean
and brief for girls in a wild time,
past for ladies up like smoke in narrow wind.

it's official / our girl matched with her first choice for residency / is moving to Martinez, Cali / residency at Contra Costa / happy bittersweet day in Tucson
There's our girl dressed crazy for a skit. The Drapers are a great family.
Tucson fam: of course MM & I were there nervous!
ANXIETY. One at a time these MDs have to go onstage to open envelopes in front of everyone to see where they matched for residency. Seemed torturous to me.
There's our girl who of course match with her first choice. So proud & happy Dr DD. LOVE!
