new chap is out!
Notes from Byzantium, Black Rock Press' newest publication, is a hybrid visual/poetic edition that combines Shelly Taylor's intense, language-driven investigations into place and identity with the erosional utterances of Eben Goff's entropic and elegant oil engraving in wax panels.
This limited edition of 250 books features Indigo digitally printed textblocks bound into pink (pink!) bookcloth with the cover image and title printed in blue foil.
Shelly Taylor is the author of two full-length poetry collections, Lions, Remonstrance (Coconut Books Braddock Book Prize, 2014) and Black-Eyed Heifer (Tarpaulin Sky, 2010), and co-editor, with Abraham Smith, of the anthology of rural American poetry and essays, Hick Poetics (Lost Roads Press, 2015).
Eben Goff works in a wide range of materials, making artworks connected to themes of landscape, time, and romantic beauty that communicate an ecological dimension of the sublime through the elemental interplay of body and land, organic and inorganic, gunk and sheen. He received an MFA from UCLA (2009) and is represented by Diane Rosenstein Gallery in Los Angeles.
